Hidden Barn Bourbon’s Batch 23B Takes Double Gold in San Francisco
Jackie Zykan and Neeley Family Distillery’s small-batch Series 1 bourbon scores 98 points and a second straight double gold at SFWSC.

Sparta, Kentucky’s Hidden Barn Bourbon keeps stacking San Francisco hardware. Series 1 Batch 23B took double gold in the Small Batch Bourbon — up to 5 Years category at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, with a 98-point “perfectly balanced” nod from the panel and a Best in Class finalist slot.
Batch 23B is a blend of twenty barrels aged five to six years, distilled at Neeley Family Distillery and blended by Jackie Zykan on Neeley’s 70/20/10 mashbill. It’s double pot distilled with wild-crafted Appalachian yeast, bottled at cask strength 110.1 proof with only sediment filtration. Zykan’s own notes lean caramel corn, dark fruit, baked apple, and a peppermint-anise finish.
Suggested retail is $74.99, with Kentucky gift-shop and select-state retail availability. Hidden Barn’s name nods to communities that painted barns black in solidarity with distillers during Prohibition — a neat bit of local folklore for a brand that’s now winning on the national stage two years running.
