Wild Turkey Austin Nichols Archives Opens with Gold Foil Edition
Bruce Russell’s new limited annual series debuts a 16-year, 120-proof nod to cult “Cheesy Gold Foil” — $400, Camp Nelson barrels, signature funk included.

Wild Turkey’s Master’s Keep chapter closed; Austin Nichols Archives is the next shelf. Associate Master Blender Bruce Russell’s new limited annual series debuts May 19 with Gold Foil Edition — a 16-year, 120-proof Kentucky straight bourbon inspired by the 1980s–90s cult bottles fans still call “Cheesy Gold Foil.”
Russell has been nursing the idea for more than a decade as a tribute to grandfather Jimmy Russell and the glut-era barrels Jimmy blended into everyday bottlings. Gold Foil pulls from Camp Nelson F, D, and E rickhouses, skips chill filtration, and aims for mature oak funk, dark fruit, cherry cola, clove, dark honey, and a long finish of pepper, brown sugar, and leather. Packaging wraps a hunting-scene canister and gold-foil lining around a vintage-nodding label, plus a series Easter egg for the dusty hunters.
Suggested retail is $400 in limited select-market quantities. For Turkey drinkers who mourned Master’s Keep, Archives is the new allocation chase — and the first series Bruce leads solo.
