Buffalo Trace Prohibition Collection 3 Revives Five Medicinal Labels
A $999.99 five-bottle set returns Henry Watterson, Kentucky River, John G. Carlisle, Walter B. Duffy, and Cove Spring — labels once bottled for “medicinal purposes” at George T. Stagg.

Buffalo Trace Distillery’s Prohibition Collection is back for a third round, and the pitch is pure Frankfort archive: whiskey brands that kept the lights on when the law said otherwise. Prohibition Collection 3 gathers five historic labels once bottled under President Albert B. Blanton at George T. Stagg Distillery — today’s Buffalo Trace — for medicinal whiskey between 1920 and 1933.

The set names Henry Watterson, Kentucky River, John G. Carlisle, Walter B. Duffy, and Cove Spring. Packaging nods to the colorful medicinal bottles that left the campus during the dry years, when only a handful of distilleries held federal licenses to bottle whiskey for pharmacies. Suggested retail for the five-bottle collection is $999.99 — collector pricing for a history lesson you can open one label at a time.
If you chased Collections 1 and 2, you already know the drill: limited allocation, rich backstory, and secondary noise that outruns the MSRP. For Trail regulars, it’s another reminder that Buffalo Trace’s vault of paper labels still has chapters left to bottle.
