Brown-Forman Revives Kentucky Boy Bourbon for Chris Morris’s 50-Year Legacy

Woodford’s Elizabeth McCall and Old Forester’s Caleb Trigo bottle a one-time 100-proof tribute at $99.99 — archive label, Festival debut, Second Stride proceeds.

Brown-Forman pulled a Prohibition-era label out of the vault to thank a modern legend. Kentucky Boy Bourbon — announced September 8 — is a one-time release honoring Master Distiller Emeritus Chris Morris’s fifty years with the company, crafted by Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall and Old Forester Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo.

The whiskey is inspired by bottles Morris helped shape across his career, including Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, King of Kentucky, and Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It bottles at 100 proof with a $99.99 suggested retail. The Kentucky Boy name dates to Brown-Forman’s 1923 purchase of Louisville’s Lynndale Distillery and was marketed with a thoroughbred theme into the 1940s before going quiet — a fitting archive nod for a man the industry still calls a Kentucky legend.

Public debut is September 10 at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown, with distillery, shop.oldforester.com (shipping-legal states), and select Kentucky retail starting September 11 at 10 a.m. ET. A portion of net proceeds benefits Second Stride, which rehabilitates and places retired Thoroughbred racehorses. Note: Official product photography was not available for this post at publish time; we’ll update the story when Brown-Forman releases downloadable bottle imagery.
