Holladay Distillery Releases Oldest Bourbon Yet
Holladay is shipping its oldest bourbon so far, Ben Holladay 10 Year Old, on October 17. The whiskey uses the distillery’s original mash bill. Master distiller Kyle Merklein picked the barrels after a decade in oak and bottled the blend at 111 proof, or 55.5% alcohol.
Merklein has said those ten years were long enough to watch the spirit, the barrel, and the local climate keep changing one another, and that 111 proof was where depth and balance lined up. The Whiskey Reviewer is covering it as the oldest expression the Missouri distillery has released.
