1792 Bourbon Introduces New Wheated Full Proof Bourbon

This 125-Proof Expression Delivers a Bolder Take on 1792’s Beloved Wheated Bourbon Recipe

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (October 28, 2026) — Barton 1792 Distillery proudly introduces 1792 Wheated Full Proof Bourbon, a new 125-proof expression that brings together the sweet, soft character of a wheated bourbon balanced with the bold flavor of full proof – matching the whiskey’s original entry proof to the barrel.

1792 Wheated Full Proof builds on the foundation of 1792 Sweet Wheat, taking the same wheated bourbon style fans have enjoyed for more than a decade and offering it with greater depth and intensity. First introduced in 2015, 1792 Sweet Wheat is crafted with wheat in place of the traditional rye, creating a smooth expression with layers of vanilla, caramel, fruit and oak. By offering at a higher proof, 1792 Wheated Full Proof amplifies those familiar characteristics, delivering greater flavor intensity. The result is a bold evolution of a fan-favorite, with added complexity while preserving its signature sweetness and balance.

“Sweet Wheat has built a passionate following because of its distinctly smooth, rounded flavor profile,” said Ross Cornelissen, Master Distiller at Barton 1792 Distillery. “With Wheated Full Proof, we wanted to take what people already love and show them another side of it. The sweetness is still there, but the higher proof brings greater depth and richness. For someone who already loves high-proof bourbon, this expression offers the kind of bold character they’re looking for. For someone just beginning to explore higher proofs, Wheated Full Proof is an inviting way to discover what higher proof bourbon can offer.”

On the nose, 1792 Wheated Full Proof opens with inviting aromas of soft caramel and dried honey, followed by ripe apricot, vanilla and sweet oak. A silky, full-bodied palate brings layers of honeyed caramel and ripe stone fruit, accented by subtle tropical notes and balanced oak tannins. The finish is long and warm, leaving lingering notes of caramelized sugar, oak and sweetness.

Since its introduction, Sweet Wheat has become a fan-favorite within the 1792 lineup and has earned industry recognition along the way, including Double Gold at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Gold at the 2025 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) and Gold at the 2026 Denver International Spirits Competition. Wheated Full Proof builds on that award-winning foundation, offering a new way to experience the signature character of 1792’s wheated bourbon.

1792 Wheated Full Proof is distilled and aged at Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. Established in 1879, Barton 1792 Distillery is the oldest fully operating distillery in Bardstown and has been making whiskey in the heart of bourbon country for nearly 150 years. Today, the historic 196-acre distillery is home to 30 barrel-aging warehouses, an impressive still house and the legendary Tom Moore Spring. The 1792 Bourbon name pays tribute to the year Kentucky became a state, celebrating the Commonwealth and its enduring connection to American whiskey.

1792 Wheated Full Proof Bourbon will be available beginning November 2026 in California, Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois. Available in a 375mL bottle, 1792 Wheated Full Proof is offered at a suggested retail price of $39.99.
